Is there an office on the Island?
No. The bench is located in Guildford, and the Isle of Wight sends its parcels to it in the same way as the mainland: none of the postcodes PO30 to PO41 are on Royal Mail's restricted or extended delivery lists. Taking the drive to the Guildford intake lab yourself (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5:30pm, no appointment needed) adds a fare and a timetable, so for most jobs the simplest option is to post your drive.
We are a Newport business and cannot trade. How quickly can you act?
If you tell us this on the phone at the start, we will bring your case to the front of the queue and diagnose it the day your parcel arrives. It will then be imaged Monday to Friday, 9am to 5:30pm, and we will give you a timescale once the diagnosis can support one. There is no charge for the diagnosis.
Does a server have to come over as a whole machine?
No, and it should not. A server or RAID system comes over as individual bare disks, each labelled for its bay. An external hard drive in its own enclosure can travel whole, with its cable and power supply, and a NAS can send its disks with labels identifying the bay each came from, or travel whole if they will not come out. No phones or tablets.
Does an Island address cost more to work on?
No. Work that involves multiple disks begins at £500 + VAT and a recorder is £400 + VAT; a single drive is priced at £300 + VAT; memory cards and sticks start at £250 + VAT. There is no charge for diagnosis, wherever your parcel started.
